Shanghai Artemed Hospital is the first international hospital in China with a medical concept and construction designed by Artemed. It was established in partnership with Silver Mountain Capital, and in June 2019 joined by Hillhouse Capital (via its subsidiary GoBoard Healthcare Group). The facility operated since September 2019. The hospital has a significant impact on medical collaboration between China and Germany, and was highly supported by both countries’ governments. Through exceptional quality medical care, innovative processes and structures, and the ultimate in personal attention, Artemed hospitals have supported patients in their recovery for almost three decades. Several years ago, Artemed was asked to bring its approach of optimized medical care to China. Not just to build an ultra-modern hospital, but also to support the transition to a state-run healthcare system.
Shanghai Artemed Hospital is honored and proud to partner with two experienced organizations, Silver Mountain Capital Limited and Hillhouse Capital.
"Action Plan for Sino-German Health Cooperation" signed by Li Bin and Herman Gröhe, government ministers for health at the time in their respective countries, to promote practical collaboration between the two healthcare systems.

Shanghai Artemed Hospital specializes in treating patients with cancer. Like many of its German counterparts, the Oncology Center treats tumor diseases through an integrated therapeutic approach based on four key disciplines:
At Shanghai Artemed Hospital, minimally invasive surgery is used to treat:
This hub treats all cancer patients experiencing blood and lymphatic disorders; it also delivers conventional chemotherapy, including stem cell transplants. Many patients require both surgical and pharmacological treatment. A panel of experts – the Tumor Board – discuss with invasive medicine professionals and radiation specialists to develop an individual therapy plan for each patient.
Interventional oncology is the newest and fastest-growing field in the treatment of cancer. Covering a diverse array of diseases, it mainly deals with the treatment of primary and secondary malignant tumors in the liver, lungs, kidneys, and bones. Therapy can include chemoablation, radioablation, thermoablation, and electromechanical ablation. All of these procedures act on a tumor or organ with minimal to no adverse effects, and can be easily combined with other cancer therapies. Interventional Oncology at Shanghai Artemed Hospital boasts the use of state-of-the-art catheter procedures, including DAS and cryo ablation.
The hospital campus includes a radiation bunker where patients can be treated with the latest model Varian VitalBeam® linear accelerator. Radiotherapy can be deployed in addition to other procedures or as primary treatment to destroy a tumor.
In partnership with Silver Mountain Capital, Artemed kicked off its second hospital in China - Weihai Artemed International Hospital. The hospital, currently under preparation and medical planning stage, is located in Weihai, Shandong Province.
Additional to the above two hospital projects, Silver Mountain Capital and Artemed are evaluating other potential Artemed hospital projects in China.
